Edward Carter Capt.
Born 8/19/1832. Attended VMI,enl 7/21/1861 at Salem (Marshall)
Va. by Capt Scott, Carter was elected 1st Lt 4/26/1862..and was
promoted to Capt 12/2/1862...Capt Carter was wounded and
captured at the battle of Gettysburg...He was sent to Ft.
McHenry anf then to Ft. Deleware on6/16/1864.
He was paroled 12/15/1864 at Charleston Harbor, S.C.
He became part of the Immortal 600.
Capt Carter died on 10/3/1928 and is buried at the Warrenton
Cemetery in Warrenton Va.
