Members of the 8th,
September 27, 2008
I can speak for the 8th membership here. We would like to Thank the Womack Family
and David Hall for attending Fauquier Heritage Day and the Herrington dedication with us.
Having drummer Robert Womack, David Hall and David Womack fifers playing for us at
both events made them even better, Thanks guys you were awesome!!!
We also want to Thank Lt. Herrington’s family for having us do the dedication. It was a
great pleasure and a honor meeting each of you.
As for myself, I want to Thank each of the members that attended these events, we
marched with pride through a street and a town that was called home, the people there
clapped as we marched by. We then had the chance to honor one that we portray; again
we showed the same pride and remembered why we do what we do.
2nd Sgt Sam Foreback
The 2nd Sgt. and I figured we needed to be kept up to speed in between events.
I just wanted to take this chance to say that so far we have had a good year. We are
going to talk a bit about some things at the next event, if anyone has anything that they
feel needs to be talked about at that time bring it along so we can discuss it. Wayne was
talking about wanting to be our mess cook. I think he would do well. Maybe we will vote
on that after checking with him about it. Sam and I have been talking about different
events next year instead of the same old thing. If anyone knows of an event they have
seen, make a list and we will have it to go on next year. We also need to do a lot of drilling
and talking about the event for Elias Herrington. Time is getting close. We need to know
who will be attending this and we must know for sure so plans can be made. I will be
checking about a flag and a Southern Cross Medal to present to the family. We really
need to be extra sharp for this, as I know we can be. I have every faith in you all. We are
The 8th!!!!! Well this is something new and I will do my best, as will Sam to keep ya'll
informed. Looking forward to the next event with everyone. Take Care and God Bless the
South. With great esteem,
Your Obedient Servant.

Well we have completed our first event and it was a success. We had more people in our
camp than ever before and we looked good. I would personally like to welcome Janice
and all her family to our family, for those of you who dont know her she and her kids used
to fall in with Company A so she is not a rookie and has been reenacting a long time. It
was real nice to see every one out. Well we have a long year ahead of us and lets make it
a memorable one and I look forward to serving with you all this year so lets get at it and let
every body know who the cazy eights are!!! See you at Old Beford Village

Marshall was a success and will be held again on the first weekend in December the town’
s people really accepted us an implored that we attend every year, and we may have even
picked up a few recruits ,so Lets everyone try and support this event there is not too many
units out there that have the opportunity to hold an event in the same town that the
company was originally from these men were born and lived on these streets . I
understand that certain circumstances occur and we cant always attend but this is the
most important event we will do all year or any year that we portray Company K of the 8th.
Here is hoping that all of you and your families have a Merry X-mas and I cant wait to see
all of you shortly. SEMPER FI!!!
