To Arms! To Arms! ALL ABLE BODIED MEN OF VIRGINIA ARE CALLED UPON TO ENLIST TODAY IN THE 8TH VIRGINIA INFANTRY REGIMENT COMPANY K Capt. James Brown We are an educational, historical, living-history unit. The purpose of this organization is to preserve and honor the memory of the Confederate soldier in general, and the men of the 8th Virginia in particular. We do this in several ways. The first and foremost is by educating the public through the accurate portrayal of the soldiers of the 8th Virginia. Our unit teaches the public through a living history format during reenactments and camp displays, and while participating in appropriate dedications and ceremonies. We are also involved with preservation of local, state, and national historical sites. We follow the original soldiers in everything as much as possible. This includes, but is not limited to, accoutrements carried, drill, knowledge, life style, camp life, uniforms, equipment, weapons, and attitudes. We are a family oriented unit and invite you and your family to come out and be a part of our unit. We will get you started by loaning you the gear you will need to try out reenacting. Email us |
